Game Day Snacks For The Super Bowl

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Well it won’t be long it’s time for one more football game the daddy of them all.  The Super Bowl.  So, what are you serving your guest while their eyes are glued to the television.  Chicken, subs, pizza, chips, dip.  There are so many dishes you can serve just let your imagination go with it.

One of my favorites are the spicy buffalo wings.  They are so simple, it will probably take you about 30 minutes to prepare.

Take about 2 lbs of buffalo wings and season with salt and pepper.  Since I’m always kicking  my wings up a notch I add some cayenne pepper and a little bit of garlic powder.

Friday is Salmon Patties

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

You know I had heard that in the south, they eat things like fried chicken and salmon patties for breakfast.  Well guess what it’s true.  I wasn’t up when Rose fixed this meal but,  I was in total heaven when I ate.  I thought my salmon patties were good no way, I couldn’t touch hers with a stick.

Roses recipe is only different by two ingredient from a recipe that I posted a while back.  You can check it out at  Affordable Meals Under $10.00 (Day 1)  then, you can see the difference in the ingredients that were used in Roses dish and in my dish.  In my opinion, the Salmon Patties that Rose made just taste so much different  and they seemed to be a lot more fluffier.

Meatloaf: Roses Way

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

My sister-in-law Rose cooked up some meatloaf that was out of this world.  I really just ate myself silly that’s how good it was.  There is quite a difference of taste between the North and the South so, I feel like I’m getting great hands on training right here.  If ever I felt that the food was cooked with plenty of love, I really do now.  So, let’s get started with this recipe it will blow your mind.

Ingredients

1 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup BBQ Sauce

1 Tablespoon Worcester Sauce

Hi everyone,  the meal that we are going to talk about today, is a favorite in our household.  It’s easy and affordable because everyone keeps a bag of potatoes and onions in their pantry.  It  is also, a very good meal at  breakfast  along with eggs, bacon or whatever you prefer.   This is a meal my son won’t hesitate to go into the kitchen and cook for himself.  And I know when he’s finished, he will not be hungry for a while.

I specifically taught my son and daughter how to cook this meal because sometimes they like to eat  a big breakfast and won’t eat anything else the rest of the day.  My son likes to add the sausage into it and that makes him  a happy camper.  Because my children are a lot older I feel like I should not have to cook for them all the time so, I make sure they know how to prepare their favorite meals.  My son will cook this meal on the weekend for his friends when they are going to look at the football game.  By the time the game starts they are already for the next meal.  It’s very easy so lets get started.

A Spicy Affordable Meal

Hi everyone, today I’m going to talk about a meal I have been wanting to cook for a very long time.  These dishes are my take on very spicy wings with rice and peas and fried plantains.  This is a  meal that is found in Jamaica their rice and peas are red beans and rice for us.  The plantain,  I was able to find at the Asian market.  I only purchased one so it costs me under a dollar.  The chicken cost me under $2.00 for a fresh chicken pinwheel which is a small whole chicken cut up.  I also already had the chicken wings in the freezer.

The economy has left us at a state where we really need to mange our budget. The one thing that gets hit most is food.
